Our Mission
At Crannog House, our mission is to provide our guests with an unforgettable holiday experience. We believe that everyone deserves to escape the stresses of everyday life and enjoy some time in a beautiful, relaxing environment.
Our Property
Crannog House is a spacious detached 4/5 bedroom house set in an acre of private and secluded gardens. A stream gently flows through the land. The property is accessed by a large private drive with parking for more than 5 cars. Facilities include a hot tub and a children’s play area. The perfect place to enjoy with family but also spacious enough to bring another family along
The Space
This is a truly unique property largely down to the stunning grounds and garden and the feeling of complete seclusion and privacy you have whilst still being very close to a large city and amenities. It has 4 good sized double bedrooms upstairs. The master bedroom has an en-suite with a walk-in shower and a beautiful balcony looking over the extensive gardens, where you can enjoy breakfast or perhaps an evening aperitif. There is also a family bathroom with bath and separate walk-in shower. Downstairs is a large modern kitchen complete with wine fridge, induction hob and double ovens. A huge fridge freezer and all one would expect from a well equipped kitchen. There is a cinema room with a 65-inch smart screen and large comfortable corner sofa. This room also serves as the fifth bedroom where a bed can be set up on request for an additional fee. The living room comes with a piano for those obligatory family singalongs! It is the perfect place to get the extended family together or two families who like to holiday together.
Guest Access
The whole of the property and grounds are accessible to guests and you will have exclusive use during your stay. The gardener visits fortnightly on a Friday morning.
The House
A lovely dining and lounging space with a log burner.
The large island also doubles up as a table tennis table!
Settle down in front of the large TV for a family movie night!
This room can be made up into a fifth bedroom on request with a king sized bed. This does attract an extra charge so please do let us know when you book.
The lounge/diner opens directly out onto the large deck where the hot tub is.
We keep a very well equipped kitchen complete with espresso machine, coffee grinder, oils, tea bags, sugar etc.
A new Samsung washing machine is available for guest's use.
Where you will sleep
The Master bedroom with King size bed and en suite shower room and toilet.

Where you'll be
The house is located on the edge of the beautiful village of Forder down a narrow country lane. Despite being so close to Saltash and Plymouth guests will feel like they have fully entered the stunning Cornish countryside but have the advantage of all the amenities of modern living (e.g., Just Eat and other takeaways delivered to the door). We also have fast Wi-Fi and it is just 10 minutes to a large Waitrose.
Guests can walk to the water, just 50 metres from the end of the garden, which is known as Forder Lake and leads into Anthony Passage and then onto the Plymouth sound. Guests can enjoy the convenience of being able to launch canoes and sups (paddle boarding) or other craft from the inlet at Forder being a 2 min walk from the property.
There is a no party rule and no stag or hens and we would ask all guests to respect the local community and neighbours and keep noise to a minimum.
The local area
Forder Creek
Just 50 metres from the end of the garden.
The viaduct at Forder Creek
Take a walk through the woods for magnificent views.
The stunning beaches of Whitsand Bay, Portwrinkle and Cawsand are a short drive away.
The Millpond
Take a walk past Forder Creek at high tide to the Mill Pond for a lovely evening stroll.
The tidal inlet at Forder Creek is just 50 metres from the end of the garden, where you can paddle board, kayak to explore Anthony Passage and the Lyner River, or even take a dip like some of the locals do at high tide. Be sure to check the tide times displayed on the village notice board.
Our kids spend hours bouncing and swinging, whilst we sit on the deck enjoying the garden.
We are a family with three children who like nothing more than being outdoors and love spending as much time as we can at Crannog House exploring the beautiful Cornish countryside.
The property is also available to book through Airbnb at www.airbnb.com/h/crannoghouse

We welcome pets at Crannog House but we do ask for them to be kept downstairs and not to jump up on the beds. There is a hose at the back of the house for washing those muddy paws after walks along with a food bowl.
Don't just take our word for it here are some reviews from past guests......

Lovely house, much bigger than looks in photos, was pleasantly surprised that bedrooms much bigger than they look and comfy, hot tub lovely and big. Large kitchen lots of storage space, cooked our Christmas dinner and even managed to fit 12kg turkey in the oven. Lovely house to spend time all together with family over Christmas.

Louise was extremely helpful at very short notice to find us a replacement house after ours was cancelled an hour before check in. She responded straight away and accommodated an extra guest to make it work for us. Thank you for saving the day!

Really fantastic long weekend with my extended family which housed us all very comfortably. We loved the hidden subtropical valley feel of the garden and my kids loved exploring the enormous garden. The house and living spaces are all very well presented and we loved the dining alfresco next to the hot tub. There are some beautiful walks into the Forder estuary, past the castle and into a vineyard beyond. An overall fabulous stay.

Fantastic stay over the weekend. House was perfect for our group of 7 friends. Hot tub and decking area was lovely in the sun whilst the grounds are enormous! Location is excellent for visiting a number of places. Communication with Louise was also top notch. Definitely recommended.

Second time we’ve stayed here. A great space for 2 families with teenage children, with bedrooms and communal spaces large enough for all to enjoy. Close to lots of places and lovely beaches / restaurants etc but none-walkable so you do need a vehicle here. Check-in and out great and good communication from the host. Thank you!
Maksims, Rating, 5 stars, December 2023
It was a lovely stay at Louise’s place. Massive kitchen and living room, 4 bedrooms, a great cinema room. We also enjoyed the hot tub.
The place feels very private. There is a pub 10 min walk uphill, a big garden and the place is surrounded by nature, including a river.
Would highly recommend for Christmas or just to get away from busy life for a few days.

Many thanks
Chris, Rating, 5 stars, June 2023 A wonderful setting for family of 10, parents, grandparents and four kids under 9.
Quiet and idyllic setting, just half a mile from Saltash town centre. Half a mile down road was Forder village green with a lovely tidal boat yard, a mile further on an incredible view of a viaduct.
Spacious rooms, kitchen and lounge with sunny patio and hot tub. Kids loved the playground and rope swing.
Would definitely recommend!
